III and ICON exhibitions in New Delhi hailed as a great success

25 May 2005

The Interiors International India (III) exhibition and the India International Construction and Contracting (ICON) exhibition, organised by partners Expomedia Group and dmg world media, have been hailed as a great success by exhibitors and visitors alike.

The shows were held at the new India Expo Centre EXPO XXI venue in New Delhi from 26 – 28 April 2005 and attracted over 100 international companies and over 4,000 top industry professionals.

“The venue and organisation has been perfect. We are having a great show and the quality of visitors is very high.” – OmniDecor, Italy.
“We have received leads from all over India.” – BP Ergo, India
“This is a very good exhibition. It is well organised. We have seen quality visitors and will be returning next year.” – UT Ltd, India
“We were overwhelmed by the response to our product.” – Armourcoat, UK
“This is a very professionally managed exhibition.” – LG Electronics, India
“I have now exhibited at 4 shows in India and this is the best one.” – A-Point, Malaysia.

These exhibitions, which set high standards of presentation and service, were the first to be held at the new venue, which is due to officially open in autumn 2005. India Expo Centre EXPO XXI currently offers four fully air-conditioned and fully flexible halls and service areas, which meet the highest international standards of facilities and service. The venue is located within easy reach of the centre of New Delhi and offers over 2,000 parking spaces on site.

We were delighted with the response to the exhibitions,” says Paul Blackford from Expomedia Group. “The exhibitors have been very pleased with the contacts made and I am convinced we have seen how important such a new centre can be to international trade and investment in India. The Indian exhibition market in these sectors has so far been very fragmented, so we set out to create a flagship event, which would provide an obvious choice for any international supplier entering the market and which would allow Indian companies a platform on which to position themselves as market leaders. The consensus is that we have now established a solid base, which can rapidly grow in size.

Our Dubai events, Index and the Big 5, set the standards in the Gulf and this new centre in Greater Noida has enabled us to set similar standards in India,” comments Jonathan Berger, Director of co-organisers dmg world media Dubai. “The response has been so positive that already two more countries have confirmed their participation for next year and the shows can be expected to be much larger in 2006 with so many exhibitors returning to their home countries with such positive results.”

The exhibitions were inaugurated by Shri Amar Singh, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Development Council and some 700 VIPs attended the soft launch opening ceremony for the venue.  The Indian Institute of Interior Designers’ Delhi Chapter (IIID) welcomed Dr. Alberto Cannetta of Milan Italy and Mr. Aman Nath to their Annual Day Conference, which was held during the III exhibition and the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) welcomed Ar. Uttam Chand Jain and Ar. Rajinder Kumar to a keynote conference for practicing members held at ICON.  Also held during the ICON exhibition was the Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStructE) conference on “Interface between Structural Engineering & Construction Industry”. “The entire exhibition and the associated activities were well organised, well attended and impressive. We were happy to participate in this event.” said Mr. Mahendra Raj, President of the Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStructE).

The visitor promotion and attendance registration at the event was monitored by the Confederation of Construction Products and Services (CCPS).

ICON 2006 and III 2006 will take place at India Expo Centre EXPO XXI from 2 - 4 May 2006.  A new event, HII Hospitality International India, will also be run alongside the events.
